Wedding in Sicily

Noto, in the province of Syracuse, is a small jewel of Sicilian Baroque, a charming town on a plateau overlooking the Asinaro Valley. Once an important center of Sicily, the Roman Empire, Byzantium and finally Arab rule, the city was destroyed by a powerful earthquake in 1693, in its heyday. However, thanks to a masterful work, it has been perfectly rebuilt and is now part of the UNESCO World Heritage of the Val di Noto, known for the beauty of its towns.

Great architects from Rome, who were inspired by the Baroque style learned there, were commissioned to rebuild the city. The result went beyond any expectation and the work characterized each city with a different trait: from the gray baroque of Catania to the honey-colored architecture of Noto. The medieval city, of which the remains of the city walls are still visible, is ancient Neto. The new nucleus, built in Baroque style, is characterized by wide, straight streets, broken up by squares and stairways with majestic palaces and churches.

Noto can be visited all year round. In summer you can complete the cultural holiday with excursions to the beautiful beaches of Sicily, while in autumn and winter you can enjoy the entire Val di Noto along the wine routes of its 6 municipalities. You should see the flower festival (fiorata) at least once in your life. Only Sicilians can put so much love into their work. And you can feel this warmth and love on every corner of this wonderful city!
