Frequently asked questions to Marry me in Italy

faqs about weddings in italy

A wedding requires precision, experience and above all good contacts!

For a wedding you need time to keep an eye on the small elaborate details, the bridal couples often do not have this time. Don’t worry, even if you decide to plan it all, it’s still your wedding! I just help you with realizing your dreams.

A meaningful celebration is an investment in memories.

Just like buying a car, the cost of a wedding depends entirely on the „model“ you choose. Are you dreaming of a vintage soul, a classic estate, or a tailor-made luxury experience? There is no one-size-fits-all answer, but transparency is one of my core values. I want you to understand where your budget goes.

In Italy, a high-quality wedding menu (aperitif, several courses, and the wedding cake) typically starts at around €150 per person. Beyond that, costs vary based on the location (registry office fees can range from €200 to over €5,000 in cities like Florence), the season, and your personal wishes for decoration and entertainment.

Approximate Investment Guarantees (Excluding Accommodation & Planner Fee): To give you a realistic starting point for a celebration that prioritizes Quality Time and authentic experiences, here is a rough guide:

  • Elopement (Just the two of you): from €4,000 – €7,000

  • Up to 10 Guests: from €15,000

  • Up to 20 Guests: from €20,000

  • Up to 30 Guests: from €30,000

  • Up to 50 Guests: from €40,000

  • 60+ Guests: from €50,000+

Why work with a Wedding Planner? Planning a wedding involves time, experience, and local know-how. My role is to help you invest your budget wisely. Because I know the hidden gems and have long-standing relationships with local, family-run providers, I can often secure better conditions and avoid hidden costs that you might encounter when booking alone.

Ultimately, your wedding should cost exactly what you are willing to invest in your happiness. For me, the true value of the day isn’t found in the invoice, but in the laughter of your guests and the peaceful knowledge that everything is being handled professionally.

Let’s discuss your vision in a discovery call

Expertise is an investment in your peace of mind.

A wedding planner is more than an organizer; I am your local navigator, budget manager, and creative problem solver. My goal is to save you time and protect you from the overwhelming logistics of a foreign country, ensuring your wedding remains a celebration of Quality Time, not a list of chores.

To ensure my standards of exclusivity and professional integrity, I offer tailor-made pricing based on the complexity, timeframe, and scale of your celebration:

  • Full Wedding Planning (Large Celebrations): Typically ranging from €4,500 to €8,000 (+ tax). This is the „worry-free“ experience, covering everything from venue scouting and vendor management to on-site coordination on your big day.

  • Small & Intimate Weddings: For smaller groups or specific planning support, fees usually range between €1,500 and €3,000 (+ tax).

  • Day-of Coordination: If you have planned everything yourself but want a „Rock of Gibraltar“ to handle the wedding day itself, this service starts from €1,500 (+ tax).

Why does the fee vary?
My fee reflects decades of experience, a trusted network of local vendors (often resulting in better conditions for you), and the time dedicated exclusively to your vision. Whether it’s an organic vineyard in Tuscany or a hidden beach in Sardinia, I ensure every Euro of your budget is used effectively.

Transparency & Safety:
As a registered professional, I provide you with legal security and absolute transparency in all contracts. We start with a quick, non-binding call to see which service level fits your needs and how we can make your dream uncomplicated and authentic.

In order to guarantee you absolute transparency, you will pay each provider directly. You will receive all payment terms and details from me, but the payment will be always done diretley from you to the providers!

A Venue Coordinator works for the venue. I work for you.

This is one of the most important distinctions to understand when planning an authentic wedding in Italy. While both roles are important, their focus and responsibilities are fundamentally different:

The Venue Coordinator (Location Planner):

  • The Goal: To ensure the venue’s rules are followed and their catering/staff run smoothly.

  • The Limit: They generally do not manage your external vendors (photographers, hair stylists, celebrants), handle your legal paperwork, or coordinate your entire wedding weekend schedule.

  • The Perspective: Their loyalty is to the property, not to your overall vision or budget across different services.

The Destination Wedding Planner (Your Partner):

  • The Goal: To be your „Rock of Gibraltar“ and advocate throughout the entire process. I oversee every single detail—from the first legal document to the last dance.

  • The Scope: I manage the big picture. I find the hidden gems (the Agriturismi and beaches that aren’t on Google), negotiate with all vendors on your behalf, and create a seamless flow for your guests.

  • The Loyalty: I work exclusively for you. My priority is your Quality Time and ensuring that your values—like authenticity and transparency—are reflected in every choice we make.

The Result: With a Destination Wedding Planner, you don’t just book a room; you curate a tailor-made experience. I am your living checklist, your creative head, and your problem solver on-site, so you can truly lean back and enjoy.

No! If Marry me in Italy can take over the entire organization of your wedding day, we will be on place for you in assisting you and your guests the whole day! We will be always in the backround to supervise everything.

With us you can enjoy your wedding without having to think about anything.

The short answer: Before you book anything else.

Many couples believe they should find their venue first and then hire a planner. However, to ensure an authentic, stress-free experience and to truly protect your budget, I highly recommend booking your planner at the very beginning of your journey.

Why you should book me before the venue:

  • Access to the „Invisible“ Italy: Many of the family-run Agriturismi, organic wineries, and hidden beaches I work with are not easily found online. If you book a venue first, you might miss out on the most authentic gems that perfectly match your values.

  • Budget Integrity from Day One: I help you understand the „hidden costs“ of a location (such as logistics, power requirements, or specific catering rules) before you sign a contract. This ensures your budget is invested in Quality Time, not unexpected fees.

  • Neutral & Honest Advice: A venue will always tell you they are the perfect fit. As your independent partner, I provide a transparent and professional assessment of whether a location can truly realize your vision.

  • Stress-Free Legalities: Especially for civil ceremonies on the beach or in historic halls, the paperwork and local regulations can be complex. Starting together ensures we build your dream on a solid, legal foundation from the start.

My Philosophy: I only accept a limited number of weddings per year to provide exclusive support. By involving me from the start, we ensure that every step—from the first „insider tip“ to the final dance—is professionally guided, uncomplicated, and perfectly tailored to you.

In any case! The earlier you plan your wedding, the more choices you will have. We still have a lot of leeway for the negotiations, the planning is less stressful and the anticipation longer! Since nobody knows what’s coming, let yourself be guided by a positive goal! And if we see months before the wedding that there are problems, we will tackle them together. I promise I will always be there for you in any situation!

Documents needed for your wedding in Italy

civil and church wedding

I will take over the planning of your civil or church wedding, a symbolic or free wedding ceremony or a simple blessing. I will help you to prepare all the required documents. Our service includes the complete handling of the bureaucratic formalities so that your marriage can also be recognized effortlessly at home. Here you will find a list of all the documents required for a legally effective marriage in Italy.

Civil marriage

In order for your marriage to be legally recognized in Germany, you need the following documents:

  • Valid identity card or passport with a period of validity of at least 6 months
  • International birth certificate, which you can obtain from the registration office of your place of birth
  • International Certificate of Eligibility for Marriage: You can obtain the certificate of ability to marry at the registry office of your permanent place of residence. We advise you to contact the registry office as soon as possible in order to be informed of the exact documents you need to present there. Usually both fiancés will ask: Residence certificate from the registration office stating marital status, place of residence and nationality, certified copy or excerpt from the family book, certified photocopy of an official ID
  • If widowed, the death certificate

Please keep in mind that for women who are divorced, the year of separation is taken very seriously in Italy. The same also applies to divorces. A woman may not remarry unless at least 300 days have passed. For these cases we need a special confirmation from the German embassy.

I am of course happy to answer any questions you may have in this regard. Feel free to call me without obligation!

Church wedding

If you only want to get married in a church in Italy, you must have already been married in a civil ceremony in your home country. Or you decide for the civil and church wedding in Italy. Catholic weddings can only be celebrated in sacred places. For purely Catholic couples, it is possible to plan the church and civil wedding at the same time. We can also arrange Protestant and Anglican weddings at a location of your choice.
You need the following documents for the church wedding:

  • Marriage certificate already available from the registry office in your home town or at least the registration for the civil marriage with the date
  • Valid passport or ID card and indication of the valid place of residence
  • Certificate of Baptism and Confirmation
  • Confirmation of the marriage preparation course from the home parish
  • Transfer for marriage abroad (Litterae dimissoriae)

All documents are translated into Italian and certified by us, so that a smooth process is guaranteed.

You can find contact to the German Church Community in Rome by following this link.
